Just a few days earlier, Lily had been hiding under the kitchen table, covering her ears as her dad screamed at her mom. Her dad’s voice echoed through the house. Doors slammed. Glassware crashed to the floor.
Lily squeezed her favorite stuffed bunny so tightly her hands hurt, praying the yelling would stop. Sadly, nights like this had become all too familiar.
The next morning, Lily’s mom remembered hearing about CASA. When it felt safe to reach out, she brought Lily to the Family Justice Center, where they found safety, support, and hope for what came next.
While Lily spent time in CASA’s Youth Center, playing with Hello Kitty legos, her mom met with a CASA Advocate to create a safety plan, pursue legal protections, and access the resources her and Lily needed to build a safer, more stable future.
CASA helped turn a frightening chapter into a fresh start, giving Lily and her mom the opportunity to look ahead with hope.
Because of CASA, Lily walked into school with something she hadn’t felt in a long time: safety. Instead of fearing what came next, she could focus on making new friends, discovering her love of math, and experiencing the joy of being a kid.
