Survivor Story

“After leaving an abusive relationship my daughter was put into foster care. CASA helped me for over a year with safety planning, financial resources, and support groups so I could get back on my feet and get my daughter back. Even now, after I have my daughter with me in a safe home, from time to time I find myself struggling, not only financially but coping with the reality of what we’ve been through. One of CASA’s advocates gave me a note titled, “In case you feel discouraged.” One day when I was stressing about the rent I opened the note which read, “You’ve got this girl. You made it this far, don’t give up.” No matter what issue arises, I know the supportive team at CASA will take my call and help me problem solve.
